Although alfresco dining has become a popular (and essential) pivot for most restaurants and bars across the country during the last two years, Sonoma wineries have been pros at alfresco entertaining for decades. There’s nothing like sipping and dining amongst the vines—with sweeping views of local mountain ranges, hillside vineyards and breathtaking sunsets. Lucky for us, many wineries in Healdsburg are taking alfresco entertaining to new heights this year. From lavish meals tucked in-between the vines to decadent dining under picturesque oak trees, there’s sure to be a Sonoma winery event for all visitors and locals to enjoy. These alfresco winery dinners are offered throughout the region, from Alexander Valley to Sonoma Valley, allowing guests a diversity of landscapes to enjoy the quintessential wine country culinary experience. Alexander Valley: Sonoma Winery Dinner Events

Jordan Vineyard & Winery

As part of Jordan Winery’s 50th anniversary and the John Jordan Foundation’s 10th anniversary, the winery is hosting a series of alfresco dinners to kick-off Social Impact Summer in Healdsburg. Each evening will highlight a different local or global organization that the foundation has supported in the last decade and will feature a selection of Jordan Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon vintages to pair with Jordan’s modernist cooking. Be sure to reserve your seat starting on March 22. Additionally, members of Jordan’s loyalty program will have the opportunity to enjoy the winery’s new Epicurean Alfresco Lunches, hosted on select days this spring and summer. Guests will enjoy a luxurious multi-course lunch of French bistro fare served with a California twist. Silver, Gold and Platinum members can book their Epicurean Alfresco Lunch table starting on February 15. Trione Winery

This May, the Trione family will host an intimate food and wine pairing dinner in the courtyard of the winery’s charming Old Stone Building with views of cascading fountains, vines and a bocce court nearby. The evening will feature a three-course dinner served alongside pre-release wines and special vintages from the family’s library cellar. Local chef, Tim Vallery of Peloton Culinary, will curate the menu to showcase the bounty of Sonoma County. Tickets start at $150 for members and $175 for non-members.

Dry Creek Valley: Sonoma Winery Dinner Events

Dry Creek Vineyard

Many consider Dry Creek Vineyard the anchor in its namesake valley. The family-owned winery has been making crowd-pleasing whites and silky reds since the 1970s. This year, Dry Creek Vineyard is stepping up its alfresco culinary experiences with a Spring Garden Tasting—a picnic-style sampling of newly released limited-production and single-vineyard wines and seasonal bites. The Spring Garden Tasting is available exclusively for wine club members ($35 per person) and precedes two other special events: Summer of Zin, a live music, wine and food vendor festival ($65 per person; open to the public) and the winery’s 50th Anniversary Gala ($250 per person; wine club exclusive).

Lambert Bridge

Tucked away on West Dry Creek Road, this small producer is known for its annual Harvest Dinner celebration hosted in October at the winery’s charming estate gardens. Winemaker Jennifer Higgins and General Manager Bill Smart host the affair, pairing Bordeaux-style wine with a wine country feast by Stellar Catering. Tickets are $175 per person for club members and their guests, and the event always sells out months in advance.

Russian River Valley: Sonoma Winery Dinner Events

Bricoleur Vineyards

One of Sonoma County’s newest wineries, Bricoleur Vineyards, opened in May 2020—what a year to be the new kid on the block. From the start, their culinary team and owners took the pandemic setback in stride by launching a series of outdoor dinner parties that have become a staple of Bricoleur’s hospitality offerings. This spring and summer, the winery invites guests to kick off their weekend with a family-style backyard gathering. Hosted on select Fridays and Saturdays from February through November, Family-Style Nights will be filled with wine, salumi boards, fresh garden-grown salads, wood-fired pizzas and handmade pasta. Tickets are $85 per person and available to purchase online.

Kendall Jackson Wine Estate and Gardens

Each summer and fall, this well-known winery holds alfresco events under a romantic pergola next to their chef’s garden and vineyard, located just behind their tasting room in Russian River Valley. The dinners feature produce, cheese and meat from local, Bay-area farmers with different themes for each of their Sonoma winery events, such as Costarella Seafood and Chevoo Cheese and Liberty Farms Duck with Dry Creek Peach & Produce Peaches. Tickets are $195 per person or $146 for wine club members.
