Elegant Christmas Table Setting Ideas From Wine Country
We all know time is scarce during the holidays. Rushing around to make sure we have the perfect gifts, the perfect food, and the perfect wine can make anyone stressed out. But the holiday table is where you can relax, enjoy the moment and exercise your creativity. We like to use natural elements in our holiday table décor at Jordan Winery, to bring the outdoors to the indoors. They’re elegant yet simple touches that are easy to execute. In this post, we offer you some simple, elegant Christmas table setting ideas to stir your imagination and create a gorgeous tablescape.
Elegant Christmas Table Setting Ideas
Jingle Bells Eucalyptus Pods
Nothing says Christmas quite like jingle bells, and there’s one plant that looks like jingle bells once painted: the pods of dried eucalyptus. Spray paint them silver (Design Master is my preferred floral paint) and place the sprig on a napkin. If you’re doing assigned seating for dinner, a clothes pin or a piece of eucalyptus tree bark can be included with the guest’s name. You can also tuck jingle bell eucalyptus pods into table runners or floral arrangements, as shown in my other blog post about Christmas table decorations.
A Sparkling Christmas Ornament Place Setting
Sometimes I want a little sparkle on my Christmas table settings, but not too much. Here, I paired a sparkly silver and gold charger plate with a Vera Wang devotion salad plate, and then placed a linen Sur La Table napkin folded on top. Attach a Darice Fabric Burlap Medium Tag to the Christmas ornament, and you have a clean, elegant look for your holiday dinner party.
Silver Brunia Berries on Grey Plates
A striking plant for holiday table décor is silver brunia berries. I love using these in a floral table runner with lamb’s ear leaves and fall squash or fruit. But, silver brunia berries create an elegant Christmas table setting idea simply on their own. Grays are having their moment, and I really like using all grays in holiday table décor, like this gray square plate by Revol, topped with a gray napkin and a large sprig of silver brunia berries.
Silver Seeded Eucalyptus with Holly Berries
Take a sprig of seeded eucalyptus with multiple seed clusters and a few leaves attached. Spray it with Design Master silver or gold floral paint, and once dry, add a cluster of holly berries. Place atop a folded white linen napkin. This simple table setting idea looks great on a gray plate or a silver charger.
Mini Rosemary Wreath Place Settings
Bring the spirit of the Christmas wreath to your holiday table décor with mini wreaths made of rosemary sprigs. These simple table setting ideas add a color pop on light-colored napkins and plates. Learn how to make mini rosemary wreaths with my simple tutorial video. Sometimes, I’ll use a small leaf as a name tag. A small mercury glass ornament can also be added to give the wreaths some holiday flair.
Wine Cork with Cedar Sprig and a Gold Branch
One of my easiest simple table setting ideas has only three ingredients: a sprig of cedar, a small tree branch or twig spray painted gold and a wine cork with the guest’s name written on it. Place on top of a light colored napkin to make the greenery pop. (Metallic Sharpie pens are my favorite for decorative writing.)
Country Christmas Place Setting Ideas
Tan-colored Scabiosa pods make a lovely focal point for a more rustic, country Christmas holiday table décor. Surround one Scabiosa pod flower with three dried eucalyptus pods, a sprig or two of green cedar and a sprig of holly berries with 1-2 leaves still attached. Place over a neutral-colored, linen napkin. Kraft paper name tags complete the rustic, yet elegant Christmas table setting idea.
